Hidden in Plain Sight

a Missouri History Podcast

Uncovering the people and places that have been here all along

In Hidden in Plain Sight, mother-daughter team Margot McMillen and Heather Roberson explore the people and places that make Missouri so fascinating. Each episode begins with a landmark — a courthouse, historic home, school, forest, or community center — and uncovers the people and stories connected to it.

Join us as we explore Cape Girardeau County’s Trail of Tears State Park, the mythology long connected to it, and how the Cherokee nation commemorates the trail today. Come along to St. Charles County’s Historic Daniel Boone Home, and learn about the people who lived and labored there, who are less often featured in narratives of the rugged frontier. And take a drive deep into the Ozarks, and learn about historic efforts to restore a forest stripped bare by loggers in the 1930s. Missouri is full of surprises and full of stories. We hope you will share yours with us, too!
