Margot and Heather travel to the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site in Florida, Missouri, a place connected to the early life and lasting legacy of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain.
There, with site historian and curator Mary Ann Bodine, they tour its unique collection, which includes the tiny two-room cabin where Twain was born in 1835 and the furniture and belonging Twain collected after he became an established artist. They learn about Twain’s daughter, Clara Clemons, who carefully guarded her father’s legacy, and helped support the effort to establish the historic site by giving concerts in many Missouri towns.
